Management team buys back Powertron
MILES Rackowe has bought back Powertron, the power supply manufacturing company he founded more than 30 years ago.
The Ainsworth Place company was bought in 2001 by Elektron for £1.35 million.
But in December last year the power electronics division's manufacturing company, Bulgin Power Source, went into liquidation.
Mr Rackowe led the directors and senior managers in a buy-out of the Powertron assets to form a new company, Powertron Converters.
"The whole operation is therefore back under the control of the former management team, with design and sales remaining at Knapwell and manufacturing at a new location in St Neots," the company states.
Powertron's former sales director, Mike Carter is the new managing director, with Mr Rackowe becoming chairman.
Technical director is Andy Dickeson, and operations director Jasbir Haer.
Nearly all the senior staff who left Powertron following the Elektron acquisition have now rejoined their colleagues at Powertron Converters, with former manufacturing manager, Richard Mainwaring again involved in production.
Powertron is well-known for its DC-DC converters used by the rail industry.
